Moving labor across San Jose and the South Bay. You rent the truck, we do the lifting.

Frequently asked questions

Booking, pricing, moving day and what we can move. Cannot find your answer? Call us.

Booking

Do you bring a truck?

No. Babiston provides the movers, not the vehicle. You rent the truck, container or PODS, and we pack, load, unload and set up. That keeps your cost down because you are not paying for a moving company's truck.

How many movers do I need?

Most studios and 1-bedrooms need two, 2 to 3 bedroom homes do best with three, and larger homes with four. Send us your details and we will recommend a crew.

How far ahead should I book?

One to two weeks ahead is ideal, especially for weekends and the end of the month. Call us for short-notice moves and we will check the schedule.

Can you help with only part of the move?

Yes. Many customers book us only to load, only to unload at the new place, or only to pack the kitchen. Book the hours you need.

Do you help with long-distance moves?

Yes. We load your truck or container here for a move anywhere. We can unload at the other end only if it is in our service area.

Pricing and payment

Is there a minimum?

Every booking has a 2-hour minimum. After that you are billed by the half hour.

When does the clock start?

When the crew arrives at your first address. It stops when the last item is in place.

What if you do both ends of the move?

The time the crew spends driving between your two addresses is billed at the same hourly rate.

Are there other fees?

Your quote lists the hourly rate and any add-ons you chose, such as packing, a box kit or a heavy item. Stairs or a long walk to the truck change how many hours the job takes, not the rate.

Should I tip the crew?

Tips are never expected. If you are happy with the work, the crew appreciates it.

On moving day

What should I have ready?

The truck parked and open, boxes taped shut, drawers emptied of loose items and a clear path through the home. See our moving checklist for the full list.

Do I need to be there?

Someone who can make decisions should be there at the start for the walk-through and at the end for the final check.

What if the truck is late?

If the crew is on site and waiting, that time is billed. Pick up your truck early and confirm container delivery times before you book.

How do you protect my home?

We lay floor runners, pad door frames and banisters, and wrap furniture before it moves.

What we move

Do you move pianos and safes?

Yes, as an extra-heavy item add-on. Tell us the type, approximate weight and any stairs so we bring the right crew and equipment.

Do you disconnect appliances?

We move washers, dryers and refrigerators. Gas lines and water hookups should be disconnected and reconnected by a licensed technician.

Is there anything you will not move?

Yes. We do not move fuels, chemicals, paint, ammunition, firearms, pets or plants, and we ask you to keep cash, jewelry and documents with you.

Ready to book your crew?

Tell us your addresses and date. We will reply with a crew size, an hour estimate and an arrival window.
